The OCAC Environment Project is a student-led initiative to promote sustainability and environmental awareness in our school and local community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate, inspire and empower youth to take action to protect the environment.

We aim to:

• Raise awareness on pressing environmental issues like climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss.

• Provide resources and tools for students to live more sustainably.

• Partner with green organizations and businesses in our community.

• Organize events and campaigns to drive change on our campus and beyond.

• Give students opportunities to make their voices heard and enact real change.

Our Values

• Education - We believe that change starts with learning. We provide research and facts on environmental topics to inform others.

• Empowerment - We want to inspire students to embrace an eco-conscious lifestyle and feel empowered to make a difference.

• Action - While education is critical, action is what creates real impact. We initiate campaigns, events, and initiatives for students to contribute to.

• Collaboration - No one can tackle these challenges alone. We build partnerships and bring students, teachers, organizations all together.

• Optimism - Even with immense challenges ahead, we strongly believe in the ability of motivated youth to spark progress.

Our Team

The OCAC Environment Project was founded in 2022 by Tingran Zhang (aka. Sophia Zhang), a passionate sophomore at OCAC.

As President, Sophia has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to environmental protection:

• At age 8, she founded a youth environmental protection club
• At age 9, she donated books to mountain villages in Guizhou
• At age 11, she became the youngest COVID-19 epidemic volunteer in her city
• At age 12, she founded and became the initiator of the OCAC Environmental Protection Club

In addition to Sophia’s leadership, our core team consists of dedicated student volunteers:
